Furan-cored AIEgen namely tetraphenylethylene-furan (TPE-F) is developed by diyne cyclization and its fluorescent and chemical properties are investigated and compared with its thiophene analogue. Results show that furan is superior to thiophene in terms of fluorescence, chromism, and charge transport.
