<h4>Background</h4>Leishmanolysins have been described as important parasite virulence factors because of their roles in the infection of promastigotes and resistance to host's defenses. Leishmania (Viannia) braziliensis contains several leishmanolysin genes in its genome, especially in chromosome 10.
