Hepatic mitochondria play a central role in the regulation of intermediary metabolism and maintenance of normoglycemia, and there is great interest in assessing rates of hepatic mitochondrial citrate synthase flux (V <sub>CS</sub>) and pyruvate carboxylase flux (V <sub>PC</sub>) in vivo.
