The protozoan parasite <i>Trypanosoma cruzi</i> is the causative agent of Chagas' disease. In mammalian hosts, <i>T. cruzi</i> alternates between trypomastigote and amastigote forms. Additionally, trypomastigotes can differentiate into amastigotes in the extracellular environment generating infective extracellular amastigotes (EAs).
