Project description:Three previously unidentified Gram-positive anaerobic coccoid bacteria, strains KhD-2T , KHD4T , and Kh-D5T , isolated from a vaginal swab, were characterized using the taxonogenomics concept. The phylogenic analysis, phenotypic characteristics, and genotypic data presented in this report attest that these three bacteria are distinct from previously known bacterial species with standing in nomenclature and represent three new Peptoniphilus species. Strain KhD-2T is most closely related to Peptoniphilus sp. DNF00840 and Peptoniphilus harei (99.7% and 98.2% identity, respectively); strain KHD4T to Peptoniphilus lacrimalis (96%) and strain Kh-D5T to Peptoniphilus coxii (97.2%). Strains KhD-2T , KHD4T , and Kh-D5T DNA G+C contents are, respectively, 34.23%, 31.87%, and 49.38%; their major fatty acid was C16:0 (41.6%, 32.0%, and 36.4%, respectively). We propose that strains KhD-2T (=CSUR P0125 = DSM 101742), KHD4T (=CSUR P0110 = CECT 9308), and Kh-D5T (=CSUR P2271 = DSM 101839) be the type strains of the new species for which the names Peptoniphilus vaginalis sp. nov., Peptoniphilus raoultii sp. nov., and Peptoniphilu pacaensis sp. nov., are proposed, respectively.

Taxono-genomics description of 'Lactobacillus raoultii sp. nov.', strain Marseille-P4006T, a new Lactobacillus species isolated from the female genital tract of a patient with bacterial vaginosis.

Project description:Strain Marseille-P4006T, a Gram-stain-positive, rod-shaped, non-sporulating, facultatively anaerobic bacterium, was isolated from the vaginal swab of a 45-year-old woman with recurrent bacterial vaginosis. We studied its phenotypic characteristics and sequenced its whole genome. The major fatty acids were C16:0 (48%), C19:1n9 (14%) and C18:0 (11%). The 3 070 142-bp-long genome contains 2855 protein-coding genes and 68 RNAs. Strain Marseille-P4006T exhibited 98.1% 16S rRNA similarity with Lactobacillus farraginis, the closest species phylogenetically. Thus, strain Marseille-P4006 is distinct enough to represent a new species for which we propose the name Lactobacillus raoultii sp. nov. The type strain is Marseille-P4006T.

Project description:Using the culturomics method, two strains were isolated, identified and characterized following the taxonogenomics concept. Megasphaera vaginalis sp. nov. strain Marseille-P4512 (= CSURP4512) and Anaerococcus vaginimassiliensis sp. nov. strain Marseille-P4857 (= CSURP4857) were isolated from the vagina of a French woman. The phylogenic tree, phenotypic criteria and genomic analysis described here clearly show that these two bacteria are different from previously known bacterial species with standing in nomenclature and new members of Firmicutes phylum.

Project description:We previously discovered a symbiotic lactic acid bacterial (LAB) microbiota in the honey stomach of the honeybee Apis mellifera. The microbiota was composed of several phylotypes of Bifidobacterium and Lactobacillus. 16S rRNA gene sequence analyses and phenotypic and genetic characteristics revealed that the phylotypes isolated represent seven novel species. One grouped with Lactobacillus kunkeei and the others belong to the Lactobacillus buchneri and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subgroups of Lactobacillus. We propose the names Lactobacillus apinorum sp. nov., Lactobacillus mellifer sp. nov., Lactobacillus mellis sp. nov., Lactobacillus melliventris sp. nov., Lactobacillus kimbladii sp. nov., Lactobacillus helsingborgensis sp. nov. and Lactobacillus kullabergensis sp. nov. for these novel species, with the respective type strains being Fhon13N(T) (?=?DSM 26257(T)?=?CCUG 63287(T)), Bin4N(T) (?=?DSM 26254(T)?=?CCUG 63291(T)), Hon2N(T) (?=?DSM 26255(T)?=?CCUG 63289(T)), Hma8N(T) (?=?DSM 26256(T)?=?CCUG 63629(T)), Hma2N(T) (?=?DSM 26263(T)?=?CCUG 63633(T)), Bma5N(T) (?=?DSM 26265(T)?=?CCUG 63301(T)) and Biut2N(T) (?=?DSM 26262(T)?=?CCUG 63631(T)).

Project description:Strain Marseille-P5643T was isolated from a vaginal sample of a healthy Senegalese woman. It is an anaerobic Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacterium. Strain Marseille-P5643T exhibits 93.7% similarity levels with the Facklamia hominis strain ATCC 700628T, the phylogenetically closest related species with standing in nomenclature. The draft genome size of strain Marseille-P5643T is 1.79 Mb with 39.0 mol% of G+C content. We propose here the creation of Vaginisenegalia massiliensis gen. nov., sp. nov., as a new bacterial genus from the phylum Firmicutes.
