Sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1 (S1P<sub>1</sub> ) modulators sequester circulating lymphocytes within lymph nodes, thereby preventing potentially pathogenic autoimmune cells from exiting into the blood stream and reaching inflamed tissues.
