Nucleotide excision repair is initiated by two different damage recognition subpathways, global genome repair (GGR) and transcription-coupled repair (TCR). In GGR, XPC detects DNA lesions and recruits TFIIH via interaction with the pleckstrin homology (PH) domain of TFIIH subunit p62.
