Crystal structure of a di-aryl carbonate: 1,3-phenyl-ene bis-(phenyl carbonate).

ABSTRACT: The whole mol-ecule of the title compound, C₂₀H₁₄O₆, is generated by mirror symmetry, the mirror bis-ecting the central benzene ring. The carbonate groups adopt an s-cis-s-cis conformation, with torsion angles of 58.7?(2) and 116.32?(15)°. The crystal structure of 1,3-phenyl-ene bis-(phenyl carbonate) contains no strong hydrogen bonds, though weak C-H?O and offset ?-? inter-actions are observed, forming layers parallel to the ac plane.

Project description:The title compound, C31H30N2S2O6, possesses crystallographically imposed twofold symmetry with the two C atoms of the central benzene ring and the C atom of its methyl substituent lying on the twofold rotation axis. The two dansyl groups are twisted away from the plane of methyl-phenyl bridging unit in opposite directions. The three-dimensional arrangement in the crystal is mainly stabilized by weak hydrogen bonds between the sulfonyl oxygen atoms and the hydrogen atoms from the N-methyl groups. Stacking of the dansyl group is not observed. From the DFT calculations, the HOMO-LUMO energy gap was found to be 2.99?eV and indicates n??* and ???* transitions within the mol-ecule.

Project description:In the crystal of the title polymeric complex, [Cd(C12H8O4)(H2O)2] n , the Cd(II) cation, located on a twofold rotation axis, is coordinated by two water mol-ecules and chelated by two phenyl-enediacrylate anions (mpda) in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The mpda anions bridge the Cd(II) cations, forming helical chains propagating along the c-axis direction. The mpba anion has twofold symmetry with two benzene C atoms located on the twofold rotation axis. In the crystal, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the polymeric helical chains into a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

In the crystal, weak C-H⋯F inter-actions link the mol-ecules into a two-dimensional network parallel to (001). A π-π inter-action with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.601 (1) Å is also observed in the crystal structure.

Project description:The methyl-substituted imidazolidine ring of the title compound, C24H26N2O2, adopts an envelope conformation with the N atom adjacent to the methyl-ene group as the flap. The meth-yl-ethyl-ene fragment in this ring is disordered over two positions with an occupancy ratio of 0.899?(4):0.101?(4). The hy-droxy-benzyl groups are inclined at 71.57?(15) and 69.97?(19)° to the mean plane of major disorder component of the heterocyclic ring with an inter-planar angle between the two hy-droxy-benzyl groups of 66.00?(5)°. The phenyl substit-uent approaches a nearly perpendicular orientation relative to the mean plane of the imidazolidine ring, making a dihedral angle of 75.60?(12)°. This conformation is stabilized by two intra-molecular O-H?N bonds, which generate S(6) ring motifs.

Project description:The imidazole ring in the title compound, C(27)H(22)N(8), adopts a slight envelope conformation with the C atom carrying the phenyl ring being the flap atom. The phenyl ring is almost perpendicular to the mean plane of the imidazole ring [dihedral angle = 88.90 (7)°]. The (1H-benzotriazol-1-yl)methyl groups bound to the imidazole ring are positioned on the same side of the imidazole ring. The dihedral angle between these benzotriazolyl rings is 17.71 (5)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by a C-H⋯π inter-action, which connects the mol-ecules into zigzag chains running along the b axis.

Project description:The asymmetric units of the title compounds, C10H8N6O4, (I), and C14H16N6O4, (II), each contain half of the respective mol-ecule which is completed by inversion symmetry. The two molecules differ in the ester moiety (acetate versus butyrate) and the crystal symmetry is different, i.e. triclinic for (I) and monoclinic for (II). The di-azido-phenyl-ene moieties are essentially planar [maximum deviation of 0.0216?(7)?Å for (I) and 0.0330?(14)?Å for (II)], and the ester functionalities are almost perpendicular to these planes, making dihedral angles of 79.93?(3)° for (I) and 79.42?(6)° for (II). In the crystals of both (I) and (II), there are no significant inter-molecular inter-actions present.

Project description:In the title compound, [Pt{Ph2P(CH2)3PPh2}2]Cl2·5CHCl3, the Pt(II) cations, located on a centre of inversion, is coordinated by two chelating diphosphane ligands in a geometry which is close to square-planar. The chelate rings adopt a chair conformation. The Pt(II) cations are arranged in layers separated by Cl(-) anions as well as CHCl3 solvent mol-ecules. While this complex has been reported previously [Anderson et al. (1983 ?). Inorg. Chim. Acta, 76, L251-L252], this is the first time a structure has been determined.

One of the amide carbonyl O atoms accepts two H atoms in N-H?O and C-H?O inter-actions, forming an R 2 (2)(6) ring motif.
