Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is an operational term for breast cancers lacking targetable estrogen receptor expression and HER2 amplifications. TNBC is, therefore, inherently heterogeneous, and is associated with worse prognosis, greater rates of metastasis, and earlier onset.
