Populations of isogenic cells often respond coherently to signals, despite differences in protein abundance and cell state. Previously, we uncovered processes in the <i>Saccharomyces cerevisiae</i> pheromone response system (PRS) that reduced cell-to-cell variability in signal strength and cellular response.
