Tumour necrosis factor (TNF) is produced by primary human macrophages in response to stimulation by exogenous pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and endogenous damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) via Toll-like receptor (TLR) signalling.
