ABSTRACT: Although the reverse syphilis screening algorithm is more efficient than the traditional algorithm, it may lead to exorbitant costs for health systems serving persons living with HIV needing annual syphilis screening. Alternatively, the traditional screening algorithm is cost saving in many scenarios.
