Perhaps the best-studied mucosal adjuvants are the bacterially derived ADP-ribosylating enterotoxins. This adjuvant family includes heat-labile enterotoxin of <i>Escherichia coli</i> (LT), cholera toxin (CT), and mutants or subunits of LT and CT.
