Hyperphalangy is a rare condition in extant aquatic turtles, and mainly limited to soft-shelled turtles. Here we report a new freshwater turtle, <i>Jeholochelys lingyuanensis</i> gen. et sp. nov. from the Early Cretaceous Jehol Biota of western Liaoning, China.
