(2R,3R)-1,4-Dioxa-spiro-[4.4]nonane-2,3-di-carb-oxy-lic and (2R,3R)-1,4-dioxa-spiro-[4.5]decane-2,3-di-carb-oxy-lic acids.

ABSTRACT: The title compounds, C9H12O6 and C10H14O6, were formed by careful hydrolysis of the corresponding diethyl esters. Their single crystals were grown from an ethyl acetate/hexane mixture. Crystals of both compounds have monoclinic (P21) symmetry with a single mol-ecule in the asymmetric unit. Both crystal structures are very similar and display four -CO-OH?O=C(OH)- hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional double-layered framework.

In the crystal, the cations, anions and water mol-ecules are linked via a number of O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, and a C-H⋯O hydrogen bond, forming a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:In the title compound, C(11)H(19)NO(5), the five-membered pyrrolidine ring adopts an envelope conformation. The dihedral angles between the carboxyl group plane, the pyrrolidine ring and the meth-oxy group are 59.50?(3) and 62.02?(1)°, respectively. In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into chains along [100]. The absolute configuration is assigned in accord with that of (2R,4R)-1-(tert-but-oxy-carbon-yl)-4-hy-droxy-pyrrolidine-2-carb-oxy-lic acid, which was the starting material in the synthesis.

Project description:In dimethyl 5,6-bis-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine-2,3-di-carboxyl-ate, C18H14N4O4, (I), and diethyl 5,6-bis-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine-2,3-di-carboxyl-ate, C20H18N4O4, (II), the dimethyl and diethyl esters of 5,6-bis-(pyridin-2-yl)pyrazine-2,3-di-carb-oxy-lic acid, the orientation of the two pyridine rings differ. In (I), pyridine ring B is inclined to pyrazine ring A by 44.8 (2)° and the pyridine and pyrazine N atoms are trans to one another, while pyridine ring C is inclined to the pyrazine ring by 50.3 (2)°, with the pyridine and pyrazine N atoms cis to one another. In compound (II), the diethyl ester, which possesses twofold rotation symmetry, the pyridine ring is inclined to the pyrazine ring by 40.7 (1)°, with the pyridine and pyrazine N atoms trans to one another. Project description:In the title compound, C(14)H(9)FN(2)O(2)S, the thieno[2,3-b]pyridine residue is almost planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0194 Å), with the carb-oxy-lic acid group [dihedral angle = 11.9 (3)°] and the benzene ring [71.1 (4)°] being twisted out of this plane to different extents. An intra-molecular N-H⋯O(carbon-yl) hydrogen bond closes an S(6) ring. Supra-molecular chains along [01-1] mediated by O-H⋯N(pyridine) hydrogen bonds feature in the crystal. A three-dimensional architecture is completed by π-π inter-actions occurring between the benzene ring and the two rings of the thieno[2,3-b]pyridine residue [centroid-centroid distances = 3.6963 (13) and 3.3812 (13) Å]. The F atom is disordered over the two meta sites in a near statistical ratio [0.545 (5):0.455 (5)].

In the crystal, the mol-ecules are connected by inter-molecular hydrogen-bonding inter-actions and π-π stacking between the benzene rings of the [H(2)btec](2-) anion and the pyrimidine rings of the [H(2)ppa](+) cation [centroid-centroid distance = 3.597 (3) Å], generating a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C(20)H(26)O(4), commonly known as meso-dihydro-guaiaretic acid, is a naturally occurring lignan extracted from Larrea tridentata and other plants. The mol-ecule has a noncrystallographic inversion center situated at the midpoint of the central C-C bond, generating the meso stereoisomer. The central C-C-C-C alkyl chain displays an all-trans conformation, allowing an almost parallel arrangement of the benzene rings, which make a dihedral angle of 5.0?(3)°. Both hydr-oxy groups form weak O-H?O-H chains of hydrogen bonds along [100]. The resulting supra-molecular structure is an undulating plane parallel to (010).
