To date, most transcriptome studies of schizophrenia focus on the analysis of protein-coding genes. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are emerging as key tissue-specific regulators of cellular and disease processes. The amygdala brain region has been implicated in the pathophysiology of schizophrenia.
