Hyperpolarization-activated cyclic nucleotide-modulated (HCN) channels are tetramers that elicit electrical rhythmicity in specialized brain neurons and cardiomyocytes. The channels are dually activated by voltage and binding of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) to their four cyclic nucleotide-binding domains (CNBDs).
