Many Gram-positive pathogenic bacteria employ ribosomal protection proteins (RPPs) to confer resistance to clinically important antibiotics. In <i>Bacillus subtilis</i>, the RPP VmlR confers resistance to lincomycin (Lnc) and the streptogramin A (S<sub>A</sub>) antibiotic virginiamycin M (VgM).
