ABSTRACT: A new mode of S-O bond activation has been discovered, which constitutes novel reactivity of easily available and bench-stable arylsulfonate phenol esters. This protocol enables access to putative sulfonyl radical intermediates, which enable straightforward access to valuable vinyl sulfones.
