East Coast fever (ECF) is a fatal sickness affecting cattle populations of eastern, central, and southern Africa. The disease is transmitted by the tick <i>Rhipicephalus appendiculatus</i>, and caused by the protozoan <i>Theileria parva parva</i>, which invades host lymphocytes and promotes their clonal expansion.
