Three new species of the spider genus Asceua from Malaysia (Araneae, Zodariidae).

ABSTRACT: Three new species of the genus Asceua Thorell, 1887, from the natural forests of Malaysia, are described as Asceuabifurca sp. n. (♂♀), A.curva sp. n. (♂), and A.trimaculata sp. n. (♀). The genus Asceua is reported from Malaysia for the first time.

Revision of the ant-eating spider genus Mallinus Simon, 1893 (Araneae, Zodariidae).

Project description:The zodariine spider genus Mallinus Simon, 1893 is redescribed and diagnosed. The type species, M.nitidiventris Simon, 1893 from South Africa, was originally described from subadult specimens. Adults of both sexes of M.nitidiventris are described for the first time, based on recently collected material, and the genus is rediagnosed, redescribed, and its relationships discussed. A single aberrant male specimen from Namibia is here described as a morphospecies, as it is presumed to only be superficially related. A second species, M.defectus Strand, 1906 from Tunisia, is considered a 'species inquirenda', as the type specimens could not be traced, but this species is in any case unlikely to be congeneric. The genus is one of 10 cases of a monotypic genus in the Zodariidae. Notes are provided on the biology of M.nitidiventris.

Project description:Three new species of Luzonacera Li & Li, 2017 are described: L.francescoballarini Li & Li, sp. n. (♂♀), L.lattuensis Li & Li, sp. n. (♂♀) and L.peterjaegeri Li & Li, sp. n. (♂♀). Prior to this study, the genus was known by two species, both from Luzon Island, Philippines. So far, the genus and all five species are endemic to Luzon Island and can be found in dry or humid caves in a dark environment.

Project description:Three new zodariid spiders from the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden in Yunnan, China are described. A new species of the genus Euryeidon Dankittipakul & Jocqué, 2004, E.diansp. nov. (♂♀), and two new species of the genus Mallinella Strand, 1906, M.bannasp. nov. (♂) and M.menglasp. nov. (♂), are described. Euryeidon is reported for the first time in China.

Project description:We diagnose and describe three new species of the primitively segmented spider genus Songthela from Guizhou Province, China, based on morphological characters and molecular data: S. liui sp. nov. (♂♀), S. tianzhu sp. nov. (♂♀), and S. yuping sp. nov. (♂♀). We provide the genetic distances within and among the three new species based on the DNA barcode gene, cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI) to support our descriptions. We also provide the COI GenBank accession codes for the three new species for future identification.

On the spider genus Arboricaria with the description of a new species (Araneae, Gnaphosidae).

Project description:The spider genus Arboricaria Bosmans, 2000 is redefined and an updated diagnosis given. The differences between Arboricaria and Micaria Westring, 1851 are discussed in detail. A key to all five species of the genus is provided. One new species, Arboricaria zonsteini sp. n. (??), is described based on specimens from Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan. One new synonym is proposed: Arboricaria koeni Bosmans in Bosmans & Blick, 2000, syn. n. is assigned to Arboricaria sociabilis Kulczy?ski in Chyzer & Kulczy?ski, 1897. Data on the distribution of Arboricaria in Russia and adjacent countries are presented with references to the papers on local spider faunas.
