The Japanese eel (<i>Anguilla japonica</i>), European eel (<i>Anguilla anguilla</i>), and American eel (<i>Anguilla rostrata</i>) are migratory, catadromous, temperate zone fish sharing several common life cycle features. The population genetics of panmixia in these eel species has already been investigated.
