Alfalfa leaf curl virus (ALCV), which causes severe disease symptoms in alfalfa (<i>Medicago sativa</i> L.) and is transmitted by the widespread aphid species, <i>Aphis craccivora</i> Koch, has been found throughout the Mediterranean basin as well as in Iran and Argentina.
