Complete Genome Sequence of a Rodent Torque Teno Virus in Hainan Island, China.

ABSTRACT: Torque teno virus (TTV) has been reported in a wide range of mammals. In this study, we sequenced and analyzed the complete genome of a genetic variant of a rodent TTV, RoTTV3-HMU1 (Hainan Medical University 1). The virus was found in a rat (Rattus norvegicus) in a residential area of Hainan Island, China.

Project description:We identified Torque teno indri virus 1 (TTIV1), the first anellovirus in a free-living lemur (Indri indri). The complete circular 2,572-nucleotide (nt) TTIV1 genome is distantly related to torque teno sus virus. Phylogenetic and sequence analyses support TTIV1 as a putative member of a new genus within the Anelloviridae family.

Complete genome sequences of highly divergent torque teno virus type I from swine herds.

Project description:Here, we report three complete genome sequences of porcine torque teno virus type I (TTV1) which were obtained from swine tissues and sera from southern China through routine and nested PCR amplification and characterized together with other genome sequences already deposited in GenBank. The results showed that the TTV1 sequences were highly divergent and could be divided into 1a and 1b subtypes.

Project description:Through routine and nested PCR amplifications, four complete genome sequences of porcine Torque teno virus (TTV) type II were obtained from swine herds. By comparison with the TTV genome sequences deposited in GenBank, we found the most divergent types so far described. The level of genetic diversity between these genomes is higher than would be expected within a single virus species. A nucleotide and amino acid phylogenetic tree was constructed.

Complete genome sequence of Nariva virus, a rodent paramyxovirus.

Project description:Nariva virus (NarPV) was isolated from forest rodents (Zygodontomys b. brevicauda) in eastern Trinidad in the early 1960s. Initial classification within the family Paramyxoviridae was based mainly on morphological observations including the structure of nucleocapsids and virion surface projections. Here, we report the characterization of the complete genome sequence of NarPV. The genome is 15,276 nucleotides in length, conforming to the rule-of-six, and has a genome organization typical of most members of the family, with six transcriptional units in the order 3'-N-P-M-F-H-L-5'. The gene junctions contain highly conserved gene start and stop signals and a tri-nucleotide intergenic sequence present in most members of the subfamily Paramyxovirinae. Sequence comparison studies indicate that NarPV is most closely related to Mossman virus, which was isolated from wild rats (Rattus leucopus) in Queensland, Australia, in 1970. This study confirmed the classification of NarPV as a member of the subfamily Paramyxovirinae and established the close genome organization and sequence relationship between the two rodent paramyxoviruses isolated almost a decade apart and from two locations separated by more than 15,000 km.

Molecular characterization of human Torque Teno virus.

Project description:The present study analyzed the presence of human Torque Teno virus (TTV) in hospitalized patients from different departments. In total, 378 serum specimens were collected from the patients (171 with cardiovascular disease, 192 with tumor and 15 with gastroenteritis) and analyzed by ELISA and nest-polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to detect the presence of TTV. The results showed that 64 specimens (17%) were TTV positive from detection with the human ELISA kit, and the patients aged <30 years have a higher prevalence. TTV in males was more common than in female patients. In addition, nest-PCR was used to detect TTV within different phylogenetic groups among the 64 specimens, and the results showed that groups 1 (TA278 strain), 4 (KC009) and 5 (CT39) were much more prevalent than groups 2 (PMV isolate) and 3 (11 genotypes) in the different departmental patients.

The complete chloroplast genome sequence of <i>Ludisia discolor</i> from Hainan of China.

Project description:Ludisia discolor is one of the most important ornamental and medicinal orchids. To improve our understanding of the evolution of chloroplast, we resequenced complete chloroplast (cp) genome of L. discolor from Hainan, China. The cp genome sequence of L. discolor of Hainan was 153,324?bp in length, with a large single-copy (LSC) region of 82,922?bp, a small single-copy (SSC) region of 17,258?bp, and a pair of inverted repeats (IR) regions of 26,572?bp. Complete chloroplast genome contain 132 genes, there were 86 protein-coding genes, 38 tRNA genes and eight rRNA genes. The phylogenetic tree showed that L. discolor of Hainan is sister to L. discolor (unknown distributed region). Their cp genomes have same gene number but different in length of genome, indicating high conserved among them.
