Project description:The data presents an examination of Islamic ethical work behavior of Malay Muslim teachers in Brunei through religiosity and theory of planned behavior. The total number of participants was 370 Bruneian Malay Muslim teachers. The participants were sampled from two different types of school systems being non-religious schools and religious schools, with five schools each. By documenting information of the data, this data article presented the demographic characteristics of participants, and reliability and correlation of measures involved. Analyses of the data can provide insights into determinants and in predicting Islamic ethical work behavior. Furthermore, the data will be useful for researchers and policymakers that are interested in knowing the current situation of religiosity and behavior in the country. It can also be used as references in developing interventions, promoting and facilitating Islamic ethical work behavior in the workplace.

Personality and Islamic religiosity: Preliminary survey data of Bruneian Malay Muslim university students and their psychological well-being, unethical behavior, and dark triad traits.

Project description:The paper presents data collected using measures of personality, Islamic religiosity, psychological well-being, unethical behavior, and dark triad traits. The sample consists 277 Bruneian Malay Muslim university students. The participants were sampled at a public university in Brunei. Through cooperation with faculty members, a link to the online questionnaire was posted on the learning management system platform. The targeted population was informed they were invited to participate voluntarily, and all information would be confidential. Completed questionnaires were submitted by 171 females and 106 males. The age ranged between 18 and 30 years old (M = 19.62, SD = 1.65). This data article presented the demographic characteristics of participants, followed by descriptive statistics of the measures concerning primarily personality and Islamic religiosity, followed by brief measures of psychological nature specifically psychological well-being, unethical behavior, and dark triad traits. Reliability and correlation details of measures were also provided. The comprehensive data, as detailed out in this paper, has various potential for further research and analyses by researchers who are interested in the measures and data presented.

The relationship between religiosity and meaningful work among Malaysian Muslim employees: The mediating role of existential labor.

Project description:This study aimed to explore how religiosity affects the level of meaningful work among Malaysian Muslims, owing to Malaysia's highly religious background. Although religiosity constitutes a major part of an individual's value system, the influence of religiosity on the meaningfulness of work remains unclear. To address this gap, this study examined the indirect effects of the two types of religiosity-intrinsic religiosity (IR) and extrinsic religiosity (ER)-on meaningful work through existential labor, namely, surface acting and deep acting. Self-reported survey responses from 303 Malaysian Muslim employees were analyzed using structural equation modeling and bootstrapping analysis. The results showed that both surface acting and deep acting had significant mediation effects on the relationship between IR and meaningful work. By contrast, in the relationship between ER and meaningful work, surface acting's mediation effect was not significant, whereas deep acting showed a positive mediation effect. Our findings suggest that even if employees share the same religion, meaningful work is shaped differently by the specific type of religiosity and those existential labor strategies that individuals develop. This study advances the understanding of the underlying psychological mechanisms of the impact of individual religious values in the workplace. Implications and limitations were discussed.

Work location choice- the perspective of graduates: Survey dataset in Vietnam.

Project description:How to attract knowledge human resources, namely graduate students for the economics development of the rural regions is a big question for any government. The patterns of young graduates' move during the transition from universities to the labour market: stay in the big city or return back to their rural hometown to begin their work life, why do people return rural hometown to settle their careers, are needed to be deeply considered in various contexts. The data represents a quantitative study to assess the relationship between working location choice of graduate and its determinants in Vietnam - a developing country context. This data consists of the demographic characteristics of the sample and two main variables. First, place attractiveness with three sub-dimension including quality of life, job opportunities, and place attachment. Second, social dimension with two sub-dimension which are social norms and family supports. The data were collected using a cross-sectional questionnaire and was analysed using SPSS version 22. Analyses of the data can provide insights into determinants of return hometown to work decision that may be useful for researchers in the field to understand workplace choice of graduates, for business managers who want to attract high skilled staff and for rural communities and provincial policymakers. It may serve as a reference to expand research and to develop interventions to encouraging student return back hometown to work after university graduation.

Reliability and Validity of a Dog Personality and Unwanted Behavior Survey.

Project description:Dogs have distinct, consistent personalities, but the structure of dog personality is still unclear. Dog personality and unwanted behavior are often studied with behavioral questionnaires. Even though many questionnaires are reliable and valid measures of behavior, all new questionnaire tools should be extensively validated. Here, we examined the structure of personality and six unwanted behavior questionnaire sections: noise sensitivity, fearfulness, aggression, fear of surfaces and heights, separation anxiety and impulsivity/inattention with factor analyses. Personality consisted of seven factors: Insecurity, Training focus, Energy, Aggressiveness/dominance, Human sociability, Dog sociability and Perseverance. Most unwanted behavior sections included only one factor, but the impulsivity/inattention section divided into two factors (Hyperactivity/impulsivity and Inattention) and the aggression section into four factors (Barking, Stranger directed aggression, Owner directed aggression and Dog directed aggression). We also examined the internal consistency, test-retest reliability, inter-rater reliability and convergent validity of the 17 personality and unwanted behavior traits and discovered excellent reliability and validity. Finally, we investigated the discriminant validity of the personality traits, which was good. Our findings indicate that this personality and unwanted behavior questionnaire is a reliable and valid tool that can be used to study personality and behavior extensively.

Survey dataset on work-life conflict of women in the construction industry.

Project description:Work-life conflict can have a detrimental effect on family life, particularly for women who have to work in order to support their families financially. The data set presents the views of 50 female construction professionals in Lagos, Nigeria through a purposive sampling technique with the aid of questionnaire. Categorical Regression was used to assess the effect of work pressure on family expectations. The features of the respondents in terms of profession, years of experience, office location and household characteristics were presented in bar chart. Analysis of the data can provide information on the work experiences of women in the construction industry particularly work load, hours worked per day, work on weekends and work on holidays. The data can also provide insights on the family expectations that are significantly affected by work pressure.

Servant leadership and employee voice behavior: the role of employee work reflection and employee proactive personality.

Project description:Despite the recent proliferation of scholarly investigations on servant leadership, clarity remains elusive regarding the specific mechanisms and conditions underpinning employee cognitive processes and their responses to servant leadership. Drawing upon social cognitive theory, proposes a moderated mediation model tested through a time-lagged field data from 489 employees in Study 1 and an experimental data in Study 2. We found that servant leadership indirectly enhances employee voice behavior through increased employee work reflection. Additionally, we considered employee proactive personality as a boundary condition for the positive effect of servant leadership. Our results show that servant leadership prompts employee work reflection only when the level of employee proactive personality is high, which in turn increases employee voice behavior. This study presents significant theoretical and practical implications through the integration of social cognitive theory with servant leadership research.

Project description:The article presents statistical facts on Nigeria's preparedness for Internet of everything. Copies of structured questionnaire were administered to 163 workers in Lagos State. Using descriptive statistics and charts (bar chart and histogram), the paper revealed that most of the respondents are aware of the concept of internet of everything, perceive that Nigeria is prepared for an internet enabled society and already have devices that can help them access the internet from where they are. More so, the challenges of cost, modern technology and signal coverage pose to be the greatest areas that should be addressed in the drive for an internet enabled society in Nigeria.

Proactive work behavior and its antecedents: Survey data on correctional officers throughout Indonesia.

Project description:This dataset contains data from a survey of officers in correctional institutions throughout Indonesia. A total of 1284 officers completed the survey regarding their self-assessment of proactive work behavior, perceived organizational support, person-environment fit, proactive personality, and role breadth self-efficacy. In addition to raw data, this dataset presents the characteristics of respondents, a description of respondents' answers, and statistical validation of this survey data. This dataset can be reused by researchers for the evaluation of factors that encourage proactive behavior in the correctional context. In addition, this dataset can be utilized by policy makers related to human resource management in correctional institutions in Indonesia.
