This paper presents an accelerated ferrate(VI) (Fe<sup>VI</sup>O<sub>4</sub><sup>2-</sup>, Fe<sup>VI</sup>) oxidation of contaminants in 30 s by adding one-electron and two-electron transfer reductants (R<sub>(1)</sub> and R<sub>(2)</sub>). An addition of R<sub>(2)</sub> (e.g., NH<sub>2</sub>OH, As<sup>III</sup>, Se<sup>IV</sup>, P<sup>III</sup>, and NO<sub>2</sub><sup>-</sup>, and S<sub>2</sub>O<sub>3</sub><sup>2-</sup>) results in Fe<sup>IV</sup> initially, while Fe<sup>V</sup> is generated wi ...[more]
