A major challenge to understanding glass-forming materials is obtaining equilibrium data far below the laboratory glass transition temperature <i>T</i> <sub>g</sub>. The challenge arises because it takes geologic aging times to achieve the equilibrium glassy state when temperatures are well below <i>T</i> <sub>g</sub>.
