There is a requirement for an efficacious vaccine to protect people against infection from <i>Francisella tularensis</i>, the etiological agent of tularemia. The lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of <i>F. tularensis</i> is suboptimally protective against a parenteral lethal challenge in mice.
