Reactive oxygen species (ROS) regulates the activation of inflammatory cascades and tissue damage in acute pancreatitis. NADPH oxidase (NOX) is upregulated in pancreatitis and is one of the major enzymes involved in ROS production using NADPH as a general rate-limiting substrate.
