Trophoblast invasion is one of the critical steps during embryo implantation. IFNG secreted during pregnancy by uterine NK cells acts as a negative regulator of invasion. IFNG in a dose dependent fashion inhibits invasion of HTR-8/SVneo trophoblastic cells. It phosphorylates STAT1 both at tyr 701 and ser 727 residues.
