Lassa fever is a rodent-borne illness that is endemic to parts of sub-Saharan Africa, including Sierra Leone, Nigeria, and Guinea. The disease is named after the town of Lassa, Nigeria where it was discovered in 1969. This data article focuses on the epidemiology of Lassa fever in Sierra Leone following a decade-long civil war that ended in 2002.
