Poor immunological responders (PIR) are HIV-infected patients with virologic suppression upon antiretroviral therapy (ART) but persistently low CD4<sup>+</sup> T cell counts. Early identification of PIR is important given their higher morbimortality compared to adequate immune responders (AIR).
