Mycofactocin is a putative redox cofactor and is classified as a ribosomally synthesized and post-translationally modified peptide (RiPP). Some RiPP natural products, including mycofactocin, rely on a radical S-adenosylmethionine (RS, SAM) protein to modify the precursor peptide.
