Draft Genome Sequence of Halobacillus trueperi SS1, Isolated from Lunsu, a Saltwater Body in the Northwest Himalayas.

ABSTRACT: We report here the genome sequence of halophilic Halobacillus trueperi SS1, isolated from the Lunsu saltwater body in India. The bacteria are Gram positive and rod shaped. The genome of H. trueperi SS1 has 4.14 Mbp, with 4,329 coding sequences, 35 RNA genes (29 tRNAs, 2 rRNAs, and 4 noncoding RNAs), and 42.15% G+C content.

Draft genome sequence of the moderately halophilic bacterium Halobacillus sp. BBL2006.

Project description:We present the draft genome sequence of Halobacillus sp. BBL2006, a moderately halophilic, gram positive bacterium isolated from a sulfidic salt spring in Big Bone Lick State Park, Boone County, Kentucky. The genome of Halobacillus sp. BBL2006 was 3,988,138 bp in length with a GC content of 41.6%. Genome analysis identified 4331 open reading frames including genes for antibiotic resistance and tolerance to heavy metals. The draft genome was deposited at DDBJ/EMBL/GenBank (DNA Databank of Japan/European Molecular Biology Laboratory/Genbank) (JRNX00000000).

Project description:The draft genome sequence of the halophilic bacterium Halobacillus mangrovi KTB 131, isolated from Topan salt of the Jeon-nam in Korea, was established. The genome comprises 4,151,649 bp, with a G + C content of 41.6%. The strain displays a high number of genes responsible for secondary metabolite biosynthesis, transport, and catabolism compared to other Halobacillus bacterial genus members. Numerous genes responsible for various transport systems, solute accumulation, and aromatic/sulfur decomposition were detected. The first genomic analysis encourages further research on comparative genomics and potential biotechnological applications. The whole draft genome sequence of Halobacillus mangrovi KTB 131 is now available (Bioproject PRJNA380285).

The genome was assembled in 101 contigs with a total length of 1,879,705 bp and a GC content of 53.5%. Genome annotation predicted 1,730 protein-coding genes and 50 tRNA genes.

Draft genome sequence of Halomonas lutea strain YIM 91125(T) (DSM 23508(T)) isolated from the alkaline Lake Ebinur in Northwest China.

Project description:Species of the genus Halomonas are halophilic and their flexible adaption to changes of salinity and temperature brings considerable potential biotechnology applications, such as degradation of organic pollutants and enzyme production. The type strain Halomonas lutea YIM 91125(T) was isolated from a hypersaline lake in China. The genome of strain YIM 91125(T) becomes the twelfth species sequenced in Halomonas, and the thirteenth species sequenced in Halomonadaceae. We described the features of H. lutea YIM 91125(T), together with the high quality draft genome sequence and annotation of its type strain. The 4,533,090 bp long genome of strain YIM 91125(T) with its 4,284 protein-coding and 84 RNA genes is a part of Genomic Encyclopedia of Type Strains, Phase I: the one thousand microbial genomes (KMG-I) project. From the viewpoint of comparative genomics, H. lutea has a larger genome size and more specific genes, which indicated acquisition of function bringing better adaption to its environment. DDH analysis demonstrated that H. lutea is a distinctive species, and halophilic features and nitrogen metabolism related genes were discovered in its genome.

Draft genome sequence data of Streptomyces sp. SS1-1, an endophytic strain showing cytotoxicity against the human lung cancer A549 cell line.

Project description:We report in this article the cytotoxicity of Streptomyces sp. SS1-1 against the human lung cancer A549 cell line, its draft genome sequence and a total of 20 predicted secondary metabolite biosynthetic gene clusters. Streptomyces sp. SS1-1 was an endophytic bacterial strain isolated from the plant Catharanthus roseus in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. When cultured in the PY medium, this strain shows a cytotoxic effect on the A549 cell line. The draft genome of Streptomyces sp. SS1-1 has four contigs of total 7,815,656 bp and the GC content of this genome is 72.2%. AntiSMASH analysis reveals 20 putative biosynthetic gene clusters for the largest contig. The genome sequencing of Streptomyces sp. SS1-1 is essential for the molecular identification of gene cluster(s) responsible for secondary metabolite(s) with cytotoxic activity.

Draft genome sequence of Vitellibacter aquimaris D-24T isolated from seawater.

Project description:Vitellibacter aquimaris D-24T (=KCTC 42708T=DSM 101732T), a halophilic marine bacterium, was isolated from seawater collected from Desaru beach, Malaysia. Here, we present the draft genome sequence of D-24T with a genome size of approximately 3.1Mbp and G+C content of 39.93%. The genome of D-24T contains genes involved in reducing a potent greenhouse gas (N2O) in the environment and the degradation of proteinaceous compounds. Genome availability will provide insights into potential biotechnological and environmental applications of this bacterium.
