This strain was able to degrade ketoprofen, a commonly used nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. Using the obtained sequence, putative genes encoding enzymes for ketoprofen degradation were revealed.

Project description:Rhodococcus erythropolis strains have shown excellent characteristics in petroleum oil biodesulfurization. Here we present the first announcement of the draft genome sequence of an efficient biodesulfurizing bacterium named R. erythropolis XP (7,229,582 bp). The biodesulfurizing genes dszABC are located on a plasmid, while the flavin reductase gene dszD is located on the chromosome.
