Rhamnolipids are amphiphilic compounds secreted by bacteria and possess the emulsification ability. Emulsification ability makes microbial surfactants an excellent candidate for assisting in the breakdown and removal of oil spills. Rhamnolipids have been demonstrated for their antibacterial and antifungal activities.
