Hepatitis D virus (HDV) doesn't encode envelope proteins for packaging of its ribonucleoprotein (RNP) and typically relies on the surface glycoproteins (GPs) from hepatitis B virus (HBV) for virion assembly, envelopment and cellular transmission.
