Assessing species thermal tolerance requires identification of their thermal strategies and evaluation of their ability to cope with temperature fluctuations. The mobilization of the molecular heat stress response (HSR), which is a proxy for the thermal tolerance, would be part of the strategy of species colonizing highly variable thermal environments.
