<i>Campylobacter fetus</i> is a causative agent of intestinal illness and, occasionally, severe systemic infections and meningitis. <i>C. fetus</i> currently comprises three subspecies: <i>C. fetus</i> subspecies <i>fetus (Cff), C. fetus</i> subspecies <i>venerealis (Cfv)</i>, and <i>C. fetus</i> subspecies <i>testudinum (Cft).
