Sialylated oligosaccharides contribute 12.6-21.9% of total free oligosaccharides in human milk ( hMOS). These acidic hMOS possess prebiotic properties and display antiadhesive effects against pathogenic bacteria. Only limited amounts of sialylated hMOS are currently available.
