Genetically Encoded Ca<sup>2+</sup> Indicators (GECIs) are extensively used to study organelle Ca<sup>2+</sup> homeostasis, although some available probes are still plagued by a number of problems, e.g., low fluorescence intensity, partial mistargeting, and pH sensitivity.
