ABSTRACT: Xylaria sp. BCC 1067 is a wood-decaying fungus which is capable of producing lignocellulolytic enzymes. Based on the results of a single-molecule real-time sequencing technology analysis, we present the first draft genome of Xylaria sp. BCC 1067, comprising 54.1?Mb with 12,112 protein-coding genes.

Project description:The draft genome of the ascomycete fungus Xylaria flabelliformis (previously known as Xylaria cubensis) was sequenced using Illumina paired-end technology. The assembled genome is 41.2 Mb long and contains 11,404 genes. This genome will contribute to our understanding of X. flabelliformis secondary metabolism and the organism's ability to live as a decomposer as well as an endosymbiont.

The complete mitochondrial genome of wood-rotting fungus Xylaria hypoxylon.

Project description:Xylaria hypoxylon is a noticeable black fungus, and also habitual to cluster on rotting wood. In this study, the high-quality whole-genome of X. hypoxylon strain SFY20170806 was sequenced on the Illumina sequencing platform. The complete mitochondrial genome of X. hypoxylon was assembled and annotated. The single circular structure of 129,366 bp length is the largest species found in the order Xylariales. The overall GC content is 29.7% and gene composition includes 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 30 transfer RNA genes(tRNA), 2 ribosomal RNA genes(rRNA) and 6 open reading frames (ORF). Phylogenetic tree was constructed to validate the evolutionary relationship based on the complete mitogenomes from twelve taxa of four species of Xylariales, four species of Hypocreales, two species of Helotiales, one species of Microascales and X. hypoxylon. Phylogenetic analysis demonstrated that X. hypoxylon has a special evolutionary status and close genetic relationship with Annulohypoxylon stygium.

Project description:The draft genome of Xylaria sp. isolate MSU_SB201401, causal agent of taproot decline of soybean in the southern U.S., is presented here. The genome assembly was 56.7 Mb in size with an L50 of 246. A total of 10,880 putative protein-encoding genes were predicted, including 647 genes encoding carbohydrate-active enzymes and 1053 genes encoding secreted proteins. This is the first draft genome of a plant-pathogenic Xylaria sp. associated with soybean. The draft genome of Xylaria sp. isolate MSU_SB201401 will provide an important resource for future experiments to determine the molecular basis of pathogenesis.
