<i>Clinopodium chinense</i> (Benth.) O. Kuntze (<i>C. chinense</i>) is an important herb in traditional Chinese medicine. Triterpenoid saponins are a major class of active compounds in <i>C. chinense</i> with broad pharmacological activities and hemostatic, antitumor, and anti-hyperglycemic effects.
