Draft Genome Sequences of Six Bacteria Isolated from the Benham Bank, Philippine Rise, Philippines.

ABSTRACT: We report here the draft genome sequences of six bacteria isolated from the near-bottom waters and surface sediments of the Benham Bank, Philippine Rise, Philippines. These genome sequences represent candidate novel species and/or strains from the families Flavobacteriaceae and Dermacoccaceae and the genera Idiomarina, Bacillus, and Vibrio.

These isolates were obtained from clinical patients and a nonhuman primate. Due to potential zoonotic risks, we characterized antibiotic resistance markers and Helicobacter virulence factors.

Project description:Here, we report the draft genome sequences of four aerobic gaseous alkane-oxidizing bacteria isolated from soil by enrichment culture using isobutane (2-methylpropane) as the sole carbon and energy source. The sequences all reveal microorganisms with multiple alkane-oxidizing monooxygenases, including soluble di-iron monooxygenases (SDIMOs), copper-containing monooxygenases (CuMMOs), and alkane hydroxylases (AHs).
