Dataset on the influence of software development agility on software firms' performance in Bangladesh.

ABSTRACT: The article identifies the relationship among different agile software development approaches such as response extensiveness, response efficiency, team autonomy, team diversity, and software functionality that software teams face difficult challenges in associating and achieving the right balance between the two agility dimensions. This research strategy, in terms of quantity, is descriptive and correlational. Statistical analysis of the data was carried out, using SmartPLS 3.0. Statistical population, consist of employees of software industries in Bangladesh, who were engaged in 2017 and their total number is about 100 people. The data show that the response extensiveness, response efficiency, team autonomy, team diversity, and software functionality have impact on software development agility and software development performance.

Project description:The spillover effect of university-based agricultural research and development (R&D) has been recognized as a crucial factor contributing to the enhanced performance of the agricultural industry. Nonetheless, the psychological impact of organizational inertia on individuals and groups may shape the influence of such spillovers for agribusiness firms. To date, there has been limited exploration of the interplay between university agricultural R&D spillovers and agribusiness firms. Utilizing panel data from Chinese listed agribusiness firms between 2009 and 2019, our empirical investigation reveals a negative short-term relationship between university agricultural R&D spillovers and agribusiness firm performance due to the similarity in knowledge backgrounds. In the short term, organizational inertia, stemming from familiar and parallel knowledge, renders university agricultural R&D spillovers unfavorable to agribusiness firm performance, thereby reducing their value to the enterprises. Conversely, the long-term influence of university agricultural R&D spillovers on agricultural enterprise performance is positive, as organizational inertia dissipates over time. Additionally, our findings indicate that university non-agricultural R&D spillovers serve to positively moderate the relationship between agricultural R&D spillovers and agribusiness firm performance in the short term, while exerting a negative moderating effect in the long term. Lastly, our analysis reveals a negative correlation between the effect of university agricultural R&D spillovers and the geographical distance between agribusiness firms and universities. This suggests that proximity to academic institutions may play a role in shaping the impact of R&D spillovers on agribusiness performance. In summary, our study highlights the complex dynamics between university agricultural R&D spillovers and agribusiness firm performance, revealing both short-term and long-term effects. We also underscore the importance of considering the influence of organizational inertia and the moderating role of non-agricultural R&D spillovers. Understanding these relationships is crucial for informing strategic decisions and fostering innovation within the agricultural industry.

Project description:The increasing salience of sustainability concerns in financial markets has led to growing demand by financial institutions, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders for information on the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) credentials of companies. To address these demands, private firms providing ESG data and related products have expanded in size and in number. Reflecting the increased importance of ESG data, academics, sustainable finance practitioners and financial regulators have surveyed the emerging industry of these ESG information firms. However, to date no structured dataset on the characteristics of ESG information firms is available. The ESG Information Firms Dataset (ESGFiDa) presented in this article is a first step to address this gap. ESGFiDa consolidates the findings from the academic and gray literature on the ESG information industry and augments these with additional data gathered through desk research. Based on this multi-stage data collection process, the dataset provides 1) a meta-analysis of existing accounts of ESG information firms from a variety of sources and 2) consolidated and augmented data about 128 ESG information firms. The meta-analysis part of the dataset contains amongst others information on different estimates regarding the size of the ESG information industry that have been proposed in the literature. The second part of ESGFiDa provides data on 128 ESG information firms that have been identified from the literature and consists of five variables (Name, Type, Country, Continent, Year of incorporation, and Headquarters). In addition, mergers and acquisitions among the 128 ESG information firms are recorded in a dated and geolocated edgelist with 65 entries. These relational data can be used for network analysis. In summary, ESGFiDa offers a first systematized description of the dynamics of the emerging ESG information industry. As such, it can be of interest to students of sustainable finance from fields including finance and economics, political science, organization studies, sustainability studies and financial geography. Moreover, practitioners from financial institutions interested in the backgrounds and differences of ESG information firms as well as policymakers and financial regulators tasked with overseeing and regulating the emerging ESG information industry might find the presented dataset useful.
