Various lepidopteran insects are responsible for major crop losses worldwide. Although crop plant varieties developed to express <i>Bacillus thuringiensis</i> (Bt) proteins are effective at controlling damage from key lepidopteran pests, some insect populations have evolved to be insensitive to certain Bt proteins.
