Sexual interactions have a potent influence on health in several species, including mammals. Previous work in <i>C. elegans</i> identified strategies used by males to accelerate the demise of the opposite sex (hermaphrodites). But whether hermaphrodites evolved counter-strategies against males remains unknown.
