Buruli ulcer is an infectious disease provoking chronic, disabling skin ulcers in mammals and humans. Buruli ulcer is caused by <i>Mycobacterium ulcerans</i>, an environmental mycobacterium synthesizing a toxin called mycolactone responsible for the pathogenicity.
