The growth of injured axons in the adult mammalian CNS is limited after injury. Three myelin proteins, Nogo, MAG (myelin-associated glycoprotein), and OMgp (oligodendrocyte myelin glycoprotein), bind to the Nogo-66 receptor (NgR) and inhibit axonal growth in vitro.
