Meiotic crossovers (COs) play a critical role in generating genetic variation and maintaining faithful segregation of homologous chromosomes during meiosis. We develop a haplotype-specific fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) technique that allows visualization of COs directly on metaphase chromosomes.
